Excavate
Excavate is an exhibition of commissioned artwork by three artists. The pieces can be found across various locations in Falmouth, Cornwall. The exhibition will explore myths and legends and how these stories affect the Cornish cultural identity, physical landscape and history. Cornish culture is deeply rooted in myths and storytelling which is something the exhibition explores and draws on.
There are various ways to take part in the project to uncover new stories and experience art in locations outside in Falmouth.
There will be an event at which readymade kits containing everything you need to view the works (maps, directions and instructions etc) will be distributed. There will also be the opportunity to chat with archeologist Elizabeth Scott and view some of the artists inspirations and other books on the history of Falmouth. This will take place 10th August 2011 at The Poly, Falmouth. Kits will then be available to borrow from The Poly until the end of August.
You can also download the kit from the download section of the website and either print or view on your phone to experience the exhibition in your own time.
The exhibition shows art pieces by Jan Hopkins, Katie Harnett and Michael Tanner.
